Rīgas sparkling wine is made from selected European wines by the ongoing fermentation method. Riga is the place where this method was used in champagne production for the first time ever. Today this technology has gained an international recognition and is included in the International Code of Technologies. The method has been patented to such traditional wine-producer countries as France, Portugal and others. Rīgas sparkling wine has received more than 40 various international awards.
